Bioagriculture

Alternative Energy
Expansion Plan

The Sun Prairie Business Park will provide the infrastructure and framework for businesses focusing on agriculture, from food processing to biotechnology. Capitalizing on the nationally recognized agricultural and biotechnology research stemming from the University of Wisconsin, the business park will provide ample space for the testing, production and office facilities necessary to grow bioagricultural business ventures.

The structure of the business park will include a bioagriculture advisory team to assist in providing crop growing services and seed processing. Included in this team will be local area agribusiness people providing guidance on such matters as available land and storage facilities. The Renk Seed Company, located adjacent to the existing business park, will provide high-tech seed storage and processing. This team will maintain relationships with the State Department of Agriculture, University of Wisconsin, and the UW’s commercialization arm, the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation.

Expansion of the business park will include a research zone, providing sites for research greenhouses and plots to the area’s public and private researchers. This research space is ideal for bioagriculture researchers wishing to be close to farmland, reliable power, and transportation. Farm production support land will be used to provide the value-added agricultural inputs. Bioprocessing will occur in the Processing and Energy Production Zone.
